Manuscript Features

The MS starts on fol. 1v (exp. 4) listing the roots of the first class, beginning with bhū. Up to fol. 11v only the roots and their meanings are given. On fol. 11v2 the roots ad etc. commence. From here on the conjugated forms of the respective roots are added. The MS breaks off on fol. 14v with the root jāgṛ.

Exp. 2 shows the cover-leaf of the MS, were the title Dhātusaṃgraha has been written in a modern hand in Devanāgarī characters. Exp. 3 below shows the back of fol. 1v, on which some Maithilī characters are inscribed. Exps. 17 below and 18 show another cover-leaf, on one side of which there is some verse in Maithilī characters and two more lines in Newarī characters, which have nothing to do with the text proper.
